Basil McGregor
Basil hailed from Carnwadric and was a long-term member of Deaconsbank Golf Club, which, at its peak, had 60 members. Many of these members later went on to form the Shaws Bar Golf Club. Basil also served as a committee member for Deaconsbank Golf Club during his tenure at the club.
He was the first member to win the Travelers Trophy, which took place in Spain. After his passing, Paul McManus purchased a trophy in Basil's memory for Deaconsbank Golf Club, with the stipulation that both Deaconsbank Golf Club and Shaws Bar Golf Club should be able to compete for the trophy.
